I’m Holly Jennings: author, gamer, and nerd — Not always in that order but at least one of the three at any given time. When I was a kid, my mom gave me the gift of books and my dad gave me the gift of Star Trek. From that, a sci-fi book junkie was made. From the Enchanted Forest series to X-Men comics, if it was geeky — I read it. Then, I started writing my own equally nerdy stories about space travel, dragons, and kids with superpowers.

But writing was nothing more than a hobby — until 2011.

I was a few years out of university and quickly realizing the standard 9-5 job was not for me. So, I decided to chase my dream and go for the 0.0001% chance that I would make it as a traditionally published author.

One thing about me: I love a good challenge. I poured every spare moment I had into developing my craft and researching the industry. By the end of 2012, my short stories were being published in pro-level magazines and by 2014, I’d signed with an agent who landed my book deal within weeks.

My debut novel ARENA was set to be on bookstore shelves.

My love of gaming started when I was five-years-old and I got the original Nintendo for Christmas. When I discovered World of Warcraft at age 19, my gaming addiction went to an entirely new level. I spent hundreds of hours in the world of Azeroth. Now, with my writing, I don’t get to play as much as I used to, but I still use games to reward myself for finishing a new book or meeting an editing deadline.

It’s been a long and winding path to this point but I can happily say I love life. I still wake up every morning and wonder how I got so lucky to spend my day writing books and playing games. While I’m currently working on book three and book four in my writing career, I can say I have plenty more still in me, and I hope you’ll follow me along this amazing journey.
